Abstract

The Asiatic Brush-tailed Porcupine Atherurus macrourus is a nocturnal rodent species endemic to southern Asia and is considered rare in the northeastern part of India. During Phase IV Protocol of the National Tiger Conservation Authority 2022–23, camera traps were deployed in the study area and Atherurus macrourus was photo captured for the first time in Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary. This is the fourth photographic record for the state of Assam.
