Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to highlight the relevance of the systematic review on geotechnology studies to understand and improve sanitation practices in the Porto Murtinho/MS region.
Theoretical Framework: This article explores the use of geotechnologies, such as cartography, remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), in the context of sanitation in the Porto Murtinho/MS region.
Method: The methodology adopted for this research comprises a systematic review of academic research on the use of geotechnologies in the implementation of landfills and sewage treatment plants (ETEs) in other regions, in order to support discussions throughout the work.
Results and Discussion: The results were presented in a summary table, highlighting the geographic scope, the programs used, the criteria used and some results from 14 (fourteen) studies analyzed. A specific research gap was observed for the Porto Murtinho/MS region, which emphasizes the need for studies aimed at this location. The strategic use of geotechnologies offers an innovative and effective approach to addressing challenges related to basic sanitation, resulting in significant benefits for the community and sustainable growth in the region.
Research Implications: Detailed mapping of existing infrastructure, combined with geospatial analysis, enables accurate visualization of gaps in sanitation, facilitating the implementation of targeted corrective measures.
Originality/Value: By exploring and discussing advanced geotechnology strategies applied to sanitation, we seek to boost sustainable development in Porto Murtinho/MS, promoting a healthier and more prosperous future for the community.
