Factors Influencing Behavioral Intention to Use Intelligent Maintenance Systems: A Study of a Petrochemical Company in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the factors influencing the intention to use an intelligent maintenance system by employees who work at the maintenance function in a petrochemical company located in Map Ta Put Industrial Estate, Thailand.   Method: This study is survey research collecting data by a questionnaire from 205 employees selected by simple random method. Data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Hypotheses were tested by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM). In order to determine the factors that affected employees' intentions to use the intelligent maintenance system, Davis's Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was implemented.   Result and Discussion: The result showed Technology Self-efficacy, Perceived Ease of Use, and Attitude toward Use have direct and indirect influences on employees’ intentions to use an intelligent maintenance system. The model explained 73.5% of the variation in employees’ intentions to use an intelligent maintenance system.   Research Implications: The result explains useful implications for management who relate to the use of intelligent maintenance systems in petrochemical companies.   Originality/Value: The findings are beneficial to the petrochemical company in making an intention to use an intelligent maintenance system by employees who work at the maintenance function in located in Map Ta Put Industrial Estate, Thailand.
