Sociocultural Impacts of Peace Creative Tourism Village Development in Indonesia

Abstract

Purpose: The objective of this study was to explore the social and cultural impacts of the development of the Srumbung Gunung Peace Creative Tourism Village, Indonesia.   Method:  The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted at Srumbung Gunung Peace Creative Tourism Village, Semarang Regency. Informants as sources of data selected using purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used in this study is interactive analysis.   Result and conclusion:  The study findings revealed that the Srumbung Gunung Peace Creative Tourism Village possesses both tangible and intangible qualities that attract tourists to visit. The development of tourism has positively impacted the social aspects by fostering a sense of unity and enhancing institutional capacity through initiatives like tourism awareness groups and widespread community involvement. Furthermore, it has positively influenced cultural aspects by preserving indigenous culture and facilitating information exchange between locals and tourists.   Research implications:  All stakeholders in the Srumbung Gunung Peace Creative Tourism Village must be mindful of potential adverse effects on social and cultural dimensions. We suggest exploring strategies to mitigate these negative impacts as a subject for future research.   Originality/value:  The Srumbung Gunung Peace Creative Tourism Village holds promise for advancing tourism growth. It introduces the notion of traveling as a means to understand and promote the significance of peace, thereby contributing to world peace initiatives.
