Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the evolution of the theoretical field on the impacts of environmental disasters caused by mining activities.
Method: To carry out this study, a systematic literature review was used as a methodological resource, and the articles in the portfolio were analyzed using the PRISMA protocol.
Results and Discussion: Based on the analysis, a relevant distribution was identified between the years investigated, and discussions focused on themes such as the effects of environmental disasters on the ecosystem (rivers, lakes, flora and fauna) as well as the social and economic aspects linked to disasters.
Conclusion: There is a recurrence of studies dealing with environmental disasters in Brazil and the consolidation of discussions focused on the negative externalities of these events.
