Tracing the Cultural and Historical Evolution of Chinese Kitchens

Abstract

Chinese kitchen is now encountering difficulties. Traditional elements of the Chinese kitchen are dying out at an accelerated pace. The new-style kitchen cannot meet the needs of Chinese people. Before designing a kitchen, it is a need to study the evolution of the kitchen. Due to this, the objective of this paper is to study the historical and cultural context of Chinese kitchens through literature research. At the end of the research, the Chinese kitchen can be roughly divided into five stages: 1) birth, 2) development, 3) maturity, 4) decline, and 5) transformation.
