Abstract
In this paper we are analysing the competition on the energy sector of Romania. The Energy Markets are divided into the market for the production and sale of electricity, electricity supply market, electricity transport market and electricity distribution market.
The analysis is based on three indicators used to measure the degree of competition: Concentration Ratio (CRk), which measures the combined market ratio of the top k companies in the sector, and Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), which is the sum of the squares of all the market shares of the companies in the Energy Sector.
The data analysed was collected from the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) and from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
