Since no scientific analysis has been attempted here to evaluate typologically the stones used, it seems reasonable to have continued the adoption of the general term 'alabaster' in a loose and generic way unless the appearance of clearly defined banding is apparent in which case the term 'cal-cite' has been used, or unless the archaeologist has used some other description such as white crystalline stone or marble.
