Ten Questions on the Surgical Management of Complex Intra-Articular Fractures of the Distal Humerus

Abstract

Intra-articular fractures of the distal humerus are complex uncommon injuries. The management of these fractures has developed significantly over the last four decades with research into conservative and operative management, as well as biomechanical studies testing various methods of fixation. There is still a debate over the most appropriate method of surgical fixation, although most trauma surgeons agree that, when it is possible to internally fix, the goal of treatment must be accurate anatomic restoration and stable fixation to allow early range of motion.
