Buccal absorption as a parameter of analgesic activity of some p-substituted acetanilides

Abstract

Abstract The extent of buccal absorption of 16 p-substituted acetanilides is related parabolically to analgesic activity. The correlation is slightly better than that between log (partition coefficient) and analgesic activity. Thus, for this series of compounds at least, an in vivo partition test provides a slightly better parameter of biological response than does an in vitro test.
