Abstract

Abstract The diffusion rate of sennoside A through a cellulose membrane into water increased irrespective of the temperature conditions under which diffusion took place, when the membrane was irradiated with ultrasound. The results are consistent with the hypothesis of boundary layer disruption at the phase interface and their significance in the effect of ultrasonic energy on the aqueous extraction of senna pericarps is discussed.
