Abstract
Summary
Three methods of measuring bacteriostasis have been examined; dilution of the bacteriostatic agent with a liquid culture medium, incorporation of the agent in a solid medium, and a counting method. A fair degree of correlation has been shown to exist between the first two methods. The counting method has given support to Price's6 hypothesis that there is no real difference between bacteriostatic and bactericidal actions.
