Dependence of the positronium hyperfine interaction on the environment: a simple model

Abstract

A model that displays the essential environmental effects that influence the self-annihilation rate and hyperfine coupling constant of positronium in condensed matter is described. The model, which is exactly solvable, is based on harmonic forces. Ways in which the model can be extended are discussed.
