Abstract
The photooxidation of heptaldehyde n-C6H13CHO can be inhibited by primary and secondary alcohols; this inhibition occurs through reaction between the peroxy radical C6H13CO3• and the alcohol, leading to less reactive species disappearing by recombination processes. Moreover, the reactivity of free radicals is modified by alcohols which solvate these radicals by hydrogen bonding. A kinetic scheme is proposed which accounts for the experimental results.
