Abstract
A small signal, small amplification calculation of the transient gain relevant to the stimulated concentration scattering of a laser beam in a binary mixture of nonabsorbing gases is presented. The results are applied to the He–Xe mixture with Xe at a partial pressure of 40 atm and varying He concentrations, and experimentally observable features of the transient gain are predicted.
