Abstract
The first confirmed larvae of Aedes nevadensis from Canada were taken in southeastern British Columbia in 1981. They were compared with those of A. communis sensu stricto, also from British Columbia. The scales of the comb differed markedly, and the teeth of the pecten differed slightly. The form and arrangement of vesicles on the head capsule and the microspines on the prothorax appeared to be identical in these two members of the A. communis group. Aedes nevadensis may have been misidentified as A. communis over much of its currently known range.
