Abstract
The lifetime of the 5d6p1P1levelatomic barium has been determined from a measurement of the Hanle resonance in the 3501 Å line. The lifetime of this level is 12.17 ± 0.09 × 10−9 s. The lifetimes of a number of levels of atomic barium are collected and absolute oscillator strengths are calculated and compared.
