Abstract
This note presents a brief comparison between the discharge over a sharp-crested weir and a finite crest length weir, with either a sharp-edged or rounded entrance, for any given head over the weir. It has been found that even though in general, the sharp-crested weir passes more flow than the finite crest length weir, there is a small range in which the short-crested form of the finite crest length weir passes more flow than the sharp-crested weir.
