Abstract
The half life of Au198 has been measured using a quartz fiber electroscope, with extreme precautions against errors due to the presence of Au199 in the source. The result obtained, 2.699 ± 0.003 days, shows that other recent determinations of the Au198 half life do not suffer an appreciable error from this cause.
