A nonlinear modification of Maxwell's equations

Abstract

Starting with the point-charge solutions of Maxwell's equations, a nonlinear modification is developed which results in a conformally invariant system. Nonsingular solutions exist representing discrete neutral and charged states with zero mass. A method of breaking conformal invariance is suggested. The resulting system has a number of properties similar to the conformally invariant one, including the existence of a globally conserved action scalar.
