Abstract
Modification of carbon fibre electrodes has been achieved by electropolymerization of α- and β-naphthols. The formation of the film was followed spectrophotometrically by probing the decrease of the concentration of the corresponding monomer in dilute solutions. The electrochemical behaviour of several depolarizers on the modified electrodes showed that the charge transfer takes place at the electrode–film interface. The film structure can be satisfactorily described by the "pin-hole" model. Keywords: carbon fibres, inert film, electromodification, α-naphthol, β-naphthol.
