Abstract
The freshwater red alga Compsopogon coeruleus (Balbis) Montagne occurred epizoically on the parasitic copepod genus Lernaea from fishes (Osteichthyes, Cyprinidae) collected from the Mud River, Butler County, Kentucky. Twelve specimens of Lernaea spp. (12.3% of the total number examined) taken from five fish species supported growth of C. coeruleus. This alga has not been previously reported from an epizoic habitat.
