Abstract
Association between protein content and a gene for grain colour in Triticum aestivum L. was studied using partially isogenic populations developed from F2 plants heterozygous for a locus controlling grain colour. The dominant allelomorph (R) was found to be associated with higher protein content. The cause of the association seemed to be due to linkage between this locus and genes controlling protein content.
