Abstract
This paper explores further the implications of an approach previously suggested, in which the Pomeron contribution σp(S) to the hadronic cross sections is obtained as an approximate solution of an integral equation. The inclusive cross sections f(pc) for pp → cX, where c = π±, k±, [Formula: see text], are calculated, in the central region, in terms of σp(S), and found in good agreement with experiment. If σp(S) saturates the Froissart bound the main high-energy features of f(pc) are obtainable without free parameters.
