Abstract
Exact finite-range calculations for the 11B(d,n)12C reaction at 79 MeV reproduce the measured analyzing powers satisfactorily for the 0.00-, 9.64-, 12.71-, and 15.11-MeV states in 12C. However, in the case of the 4.44-MeV state in 12C, there is a striking disagreement between theory and experiment. Various unsuccessful attempts have been made to find a solution to this discrepancy.
