Abstract
We present the CNDO/2 calculations of Li+ and Na+ solvation in ammonia solvent. The results indicate a solvation number of n = 6 for Li+ and n ≥ 8 for Na+, at equilibrium distances of Li+…N = 2.3 Å and Na+…N = 2.9 Å. The charge transfer from ammonia to both ions is analyzed.
