Abstract
The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) isolated from the tissues of the adult sand dollar (Echinarachnius parma) contains a component of a buoyant density identical with that of polydeoxyadenylate-thymidylate. This material is resistant to thermal denaturation even when the heating procedure is carried out in the presence of formaldehyde. It is not digested by either ribonuclease or deoxyribonuclease. It can be purified by degrading the DNA with deoxyribonuclease and passing the digest through Sephadex G-100.
