Abstract
The solubilities of SnI4, AsI3, SbI3, and BiI3 in carbon tetrachloride, cyclohexane, benzene, and dioxane have been determined at different temperatures (30–55 °C). The entropy of solution of these iodides at 25 °C has been calculated from the data, and compared with the calculated entropy of fusion. The solubility parameters of these iodides have been computed and their spectral behavior in the solvents studied in the near ultraviolet region. On the basis of these data, the nature of the solutions of the iodides in the non-polar solvents has been compared.
