Abstract
New integral equations (Darling and Imbeau; Imbeau and Darling) from a generalized Huygens principle allow the calculation of electromagnetic fields and resonance frequencies in a conducting spheroidal cavity excited by an elementary Hertz dipole in the cavity. These equations separate into surface integral equations for the fields observed inside the cavity and null surface integral equations. The latter have a regular kernel and this permits the calculation of all the fields on the surface. The ensuing simplification allows an easy calculation of the resonance frequencies with the precision of all 16 significant digits available on an IBM-370 working in double precision.
