Abstract
Measurement of the maximum range of 55 keV 42K along the [Formula: see text] directions of b.c.c. metals and [Formula: see text] directions of f.c.c. metals shows that the electronic stopping cross section differs by a factor of ~ 5 between the two channels. This difference is considered due to the different electronic configurations of the lattice atoms and is thus analogous to the oscillations in electronic stopping cross section seen previously for various ions in silicon, gold, and tungsten.
