Abstract
Titrimetric and spectrophotometric methods are developed for the estimation of oxalate at mmole and micromole ranges, respectively. In these methods thallium(III) is used as the oxidant and the reduced thallium(I) is determined oxidimetrically by potassium bromate in the titrimetric method and by measuring the optical density of thallium (III) at 260 nm in the presence of 0.1 M HCl and 1 M HClO4 in the spectrophotometric method. A series of photochemical and thermal redox methods are described for the estimation of oxalate in the presence of a number of carboxylic acids.
