Abstract
A time-sharing radio polarimeter operating at 74 Mc/s is described. A cross-polarized equatorially mounted Yagi antenna is used and by means of electronic switching techniques suitable phase delays are introduced in the r.f. system to yield six components of polarization. Using these data, it is easy to calculate the Stokes parameters, which completely define the state of polarization of the incoming radiation. Originally the bandwidth used was 100 kc/s, but recently it was reduced to 10 kc/s. Some polarimeter recordings of solar noise bursts made at the Algonquin Radio Observatory are discussed.
