The nomenclatural implications of the taxonomy of Danthonia in Canada

Abstract

An investigation of type collections of the 13 Danthonia species hitherto recognized for Canada as well as those of other pertinent species described from the United States is reported in detail. As a result of our designation of lectotypes and study of holotypes, we conclude that the correct names of the five species recognized earlier by Baum and Findlay are Danthonia californica Bolander, D. parryi Lamson-Scribner, D. sericea Nuttall, D. spicata (L.) Beauv. ex Roem. & Schult., and D. canadensis Baum & Findlay sp. nov.
