Abstract
Seasonal changes in size, food consumption, and activity were measured in Eutamias amoenus housed in cages with nest boxes and exposed to seminatural meteorological conditions at Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Decreases in food consumption, activity, and size were recorded in winter months. Results suggest reduced growth and activity in winter are effective mechanisms of energy conservation in this species.
