Abstract
A study of the guanidination of ovalbumin with 1-guanyl-3,5-dimethyl pyrazole nitrate showed that at pH 9.5 the reagent reacts specifically with the ε-amino groups of lysine. Guanidination did not produce configurational changes that could be detected by sedimentation, diffusion, or electrophoresis.
