Abstract
The tracer diffusion coefficient of mercury in thallium amalgams was measured by the capillary-reservoir technique at 25 °C. The values of 105D in cm2 s−1 at 0.0394, 0.0992, 0.1515, 0.2093, 0.2809, 0.3575, 0.4128 mole fraction thallium were 1.27, 1.06, 0.97, 0.92, 0.75, 0.71, and 0.65 respectively, with standard deviations in 10−5 (cm2 s−1) of 0.089, 0.167, 0.024, 0.028, 0.024, 0.007, and 0.017 respectively. The data are compared with the data obtained in the study of the mutual diffusion coefficient for this system and with the tracer diffusion coefficient of thallium.
