Abstract
A nephelometer has been constructed at the University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta for obtaining visible and near infrared spectra of aerosol and Rayleigh gas scattering by combining the instrument with a Czerny–Turner automatic scanning spectrometer. The spectronephelometer, as it is called, has been shown to produce ambient aerosol spectra which can be used in several related investigations. Calibration of the instrument is discussed in some detail as it relates to use of the instrument in observational work.
