Abstract
A general survey of geomagnetic induction phenomena in Newfoundland is undertaken. The northeastward extension of the 'Atlantic' conductivity anomaly can be traced into southwestern Newfoundland where it is lost in intense conduction–induction effects due to the channeling of shallow water electric currents about the projecting corner of southeastern Newfoundland. Shallow water induction processes in the Gulf of St. Lawrence are better clarified. Evidence is presented for a tentative inland conductivity anomaly in eastern Newfoundland where geological evidence points to an ancient zone of subduction.
