Abstract
A rocket-borne magnetometer probe capable of determining all parameters of the earth's field is described. The probe which is attitude stabilized may be released from the parent vehicle to sample the earth's field away from the disturbing effects of the rocket. The basic instrument consists of a spinning coil. It is shown that this instrument can detect very small changes in both the magnitude and direction of the earth's field. Its basic features and limitations are discussed.
