Abstract
Hexaploid triticale × aestivum wheat crosses were compared with its reciprocals in the F1 generation for morphological characters, fertility, and meiotic instability. Use of wheat as the female parent resulted in considerable reduction in vigour and fertility. It was suggested that triticale be used as the female parent in triticale × wheat hybridization programs.
