Abstract
The characterization of clusters produced in 50 GeV π−–nucleus and 400 GeV proton–nucleus interactions were investigated. The results reveal that the leading particle effect is more pronounced in 400 GeV proton–nucleus interactions. Moreover, from the study of minimum rapidity gaps distributions, it is observed that about 90% of the events possess at least one cluster at 400 GeV that is independent of the number of encounters made by the impinging hadron inside the struck nucleus, v, Finally, this result at 400 GeV is in complete accord with the predictions of multiperipheral model.
