Abstract
Aedes aegypti were fed on a variety of avian and mammalian blood sources and the average number of eggs laid per female determined. Mosquitoes fed on avian blood laid more eggs than those fed on mammalian blood. Mosquitoes fed on blood of high packed red cell volume produced more eggs than those fed on low packed-cell volumes. Multiplying Trypanosoma avium in the stomach and hindgut of the mosquito reduced the number of eggs produced.
