Abstract
A mounting procedure for Ilford G.5, 600 μ stripped emulsions which gave very good results on several large and small stacks, totalling about 10 liters of emulsion, is described. Special tests have shown that emulsions can be developed almost immediately after mounting. Delay of processing for a day or longer after mounting offers no special advantage, while it causes fading of the latent image to an extent of about 15%.Experiments on development with a "warm" stage of 50° F indicate a reduction of spurious scattering to about one-half the value usually obtained with a "warm" stage of about 76° F. At the same time the degree of development obtained was comparable with that at 76° F.A better uniformity of development with depth in the emulsion has been obtained by a variation in the usual development procedure.
