Abstract
The major product from the dehydration of 1,1′-ethylenedicyclopentanol is the tetrahydrofuran, 6-oxadispiro[4.1.4.2]tridecane, parent of a previously unknown ring system. The olefinic products are the conjugated diene, dicyclopentylideneethane, and the endocyclic diene, 1,2-di(1-cyclopentenyl)ethane in a ratio of about 1:2.
