Abstract
A campaign involving some 25 scientists from Canada and Japan was conducted in northern Saskatchewan in January–February 1980 to study pulsating auroras. Ground based optical and radio measurements were carried out during 34 nights in two successive dark moon periods; 8 of these nights provided good data on pulsating auroras. Two rockets were flown into pulsating auroral forms, one on February 15 and the other on February 23. The nature of the field operations and some results obtained are summarized.
