Abstract
A satellite structure of the statistical distribution of amplitudes of passive acoustic emission signals is described. Amplitudes of each signal are divided into defined groups, called generations, which represent certain acoustic emission modes. For each generation the corresponding amplitude distribution is determined. All these distributions show a clear satellite structure that is approximated by the weighted average of the Gaussian distributions centered on the satellites.
