Abstract
In this symposium the author briefly describes genetic interactions between hosts and their parasites. Evidence in support of Flor's hypothesis of gene-for-gene relationships is reviewed. Evolution within parasitic systems is also considered and the author's model system of co-evolution, which combines genetic polymorphism in the host with specific gene-for-gene interactions between host and parasite, is described.
