Abstract

Alkenyliron complexes have been prepared by the metathesis of dicarbonyl(η5-cyclopentadienyl)iodoiron with aryl-substituted alkenyllithiums. Thermolysis of the product alkenyliron complexes leads to the formation of indenones in good yields. Keywords: alkenyliron, carbonyl, indenone, insertion, metallation, synthesis.
