Abstract
Calcium accumulation in the cysts of a vegetatively propagated strain of larval Echinococcus multilocularis in mice was studied. It was shown that calcium concentration in 2-month-old cysts exceeds that of the blood plasma up to 10 times, and that the maximum concentration (up to 23 times that of the plasma) is reached in 8-month-old cysts. After that the concentration of calcium decreases slowly, this decrease continuing at least until 15 months after infection.
