Abstract
5,5'-Dicarboxy-3,3'-dipyrrolyl sulfide was condensed with 5,5'-diformyl-3,3'-dipyrrolyl sulfide or 5,5'-diformyldipyrromethane under acidic conditions to produce, in high yields, macrocycles containing four dipyrromethene units.
